Suicide is the act of taking one’s own life. Suicide, according to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, is the 10th leading cause of death for all ages in the United States. Suicidal thoughts or tendencies can be caused by any number of mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar disorder or anorexia nervosa. Suicidal ideation can also be the result of trauma, substance abuse, stress or grief.
In an effort to promote the education of the mind and heart, the Spiritist Centers of Maryland continue working together to promote the 2nd Spiritist Symposium in the state of Maryland, entitle “In Defense of Life”. Spiritism is a moral science that provides enlightenment on the origin and destiny as well as the nature of the spirit world and its interaction with the physical world.
The 2nd Spiritist Symposium of Maryland will happen Sunday, October 1st, 2017 from 1pm to 5pm at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane, Bethesda, Maryland 20814
